War Room | The Vertical Assets of the Ukrainian Crisis

Read Time:38 Second

As the Ukrainian crisis rolls on, we find ourselves over here at the Rotor Report quite surprised by just how “Eastern” the helicopter assets of the Ukrainian Air Force are. Having inherited a great deal of Soviet aircrafts once the Soviet Union was dissolved, a great deal were repurposed for the Ukrainian Air Force and many were deactivated and put into deep storage. In 2014, the Ukrainian government put forward an initiative to resurrect more than 60 such aircrafts from their warehouses. We found an interest in sizing up the Ukrainian helicopter fleet and taking a closer look of the aircrafts that are playing a role during the conflict.
